/////////////// ROAD CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION ///////////////

On or about October 4, 2017, the ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) will begin a one year road improvement project at the intersection of Hatfield Street and Buffalo Soldier on State Route (SR) 90. Improvements include:
  • Widen pavement to add a second northbound (NB) to westbound (WB) and southbound (SB) to eastbound (EB) left turn lane
  • Convert the WB to NB and EB to SB right turn lanes to free flow movements
  • Provide pavement rehabilitation for the existing pavement and improve shoulder widths
  • Reconstruct paths, sidewalks and ramps to meet American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Replace the traffic signal system and provide new signing
According to ADOT there will be intermittent timeframes when SR 90 may be closed. This will reroute traffic onto Fry Boulevard, thereby increasing inbound Fort Huachuca traffic through the Buffalo Soldier Gate. DES will work with ADOT to minimize impacts to traffic entering and exiting Fort Huachuca. The Fort Huachuca Public Affairs Office and DES will provide project updates, road closure, and gate access information as soon as it becomes available. Please drive safely and be patient as the project may increase wait times to enter the installation.
